A Robust Transportation System
It has been reported that our regional infrastructure requires $170 billion in new investment just to bring the state highway, local streets and roads, and public transportation systems into good repair. We need to make these investments while working toward a clean, modern and effective public transportation system that improves our quality of life, fights climate change, and ensures people have an affordable option to commute to and from work.
As we make much-needed investments, we must do so in a manner that is coordinated and results in a transportation system that actually works for people and increases the use of public transit. We await the opening of the Milpitas BART station and look forward to greater expansion and integration of our existing systems. In the Assembly, I will be committed to facilitating regional collaboration.
